Biography of Dr. Mohammad Azam Dadfar, Minister of Refugee Repatriatio

Dr. Mohammad Azam Dadfar son of Haji Baba Jan Khan was born in 1325 in Andkhoi. He graduated from Ghazi School in Kabul, and completed his education in medical studies in 1352 at Kabul Medical Faculty. From 1352 to 1357 he served as lecturer at Kabul University.
In Qaus 1357 after the Saur Coup he was imprisoned at Pul-e Charkhi. He immigrated to Pakistan in Jawza 1359 and became an executive member of the Doctors’ Union in Peshawar. In 1360 he went to Germany, but returned back to Peshawar in 1364 and worked at the Mental Treatment and Research Center for Afghan refugees until 1371. From 1375 to 1377 he was pursuing advanced course for certificate in Petersberg of Germany. Mr. Dadfar speaks Pashtu, Farsi, Uzbaki, German and English. He also knows a little Turkish.

Doctor Masooda Jalal daughter of Alhaj Tellah Mohammad was born in Gulbahar district of Kapisa in a middle-class and educated family. She originally comes from Khastak village of Jorm district, Badakhshan province. She completed her primary and secondary education at Gulbahar High School. In 1361, she graduated from Rabia-e Balkhi High School and entered Kabul Medical Institute the same year. She obtained her degree from the Kabul Medical Institute in 1367. In 1368 she started her service as an ear and throat physician at Maiwand Hospital. Later, she was appointed at the Mental Health Hospital. From 1372-1375 she was director of the women’s rights section of the Women’s High Organization (Moasesa-e Aali Naswan). She was later appointed as an academic member of the Children’s Department of Kabul Medical Institute, and served as a doctor at Ataturk Hospital. In 1375 she worked for UNHCR. She has also worked as an advisor and National Program Officer for the World Health Organization.

Biography of Mohammad Sarwar Danesh, Minister of Justice

Mohammad Sarwar Danesh son of Mohammad Ali was born in a religious family in Eshtarlai village, Daikundi province in 1340. He did his primary education in the local school, and completed his higher education at different academic centers in Iraq, Syria and Iran. He holds a BA degree in law, a certificate in journalism, a BA degree in Islamic Culture and Education, MA degree in Islamic Jurisprudence and an unfinished doctorate in Islamic Jurisprudence.

Mr. Danesh has published fifteen different books. He has also published more than 700 essays in the country’s publications. He has run various journals in the country between 1361-1380.

Mr. Danesh has served in the following capacities over the past three years:

Delegate to and active participation in the Emergency Loya Jirga of Jawza 1381, member of the Constitutional Drafting Commission and the Constitution Finalization Commission, participation in the Constitutional Loya Jirga. Following the creation of Daikundi province at the beginning of this year, Mr. Danesh was appointed as the province’s first governor through a presidential decree of the President of the Islamic Transitional State of Afghanistan.

Biography of Eng. Sohrab Ali Safari, Minister of Public Works

Sohrab Ali Safari son of Haji Safar Mohammad was born on 5 July 1945 in Behsud district of Maidan-Wardak province. He graduated from the Afghan Technology Organization in 1957. He studied at the Engineering Faculty of Kabul University from 1961-1965, and at Gdensk Polytechnic in Poland from 1977-1982 where he received his doctorate degree.
He speaks Dari, Pashtu, English, Polish and a little German.

Biography of Dr. Amir Shah Hasanyar, Minister of Higher Education

Dr. Amir Shah Hasanyar son of Ghulam Hassan was born in Panjab district of Bamyan province in 1312. He completed his secondary and high school education at Ebn-e Sina and Agriculture high schools. He received his BA from the Faculty of Agriculture at Kabul University. He obtained his MA degree in ecology from New York State University and his PhD in agriculture from the Colorado State University in the United States. Mr. Fatemi has held the following position:

Teacher at Education and Training University from 1344-1351
Teacher at the Faculty of Agriculture, Kabul University from 1351-1371
Rector of Kabul University from 1371-1375

He has published eight textbooks for Kabul University and hundreds of research essays. He has also held membership of different councils such as the [Kabul] University Academic Council, High Council for the Protection of the Islamic System of Afghanistan, Cultural Council of the Ministry of Information and Culture, etc.

Biography of Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatemi, Minister of Public Health

Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatemi was born on 15 January 1952 in Nangarhar province. In 1347, he graduated from Habibya High School and obtained his MD degree in medicine from the Medical Faculty of Nangarhar University. He has also participated in the higher training program at Bonn University, and obtained an STD degree from the Karachi Public Administration Institute and a certificate in medical care in developing countries and ‘new medical policy tracks for develping countries’ from Boston University in 1995.
Mr. Fatemi has worked as a general physician in Badakhshan, teacher at the Kamel Public Health Institute and member of the Medical Training Department, founder and director of IRC educational program, founder and director of the educational and training programs of Ittihad-e Islami Mujahideen [Sayyaf ?], member of the advisory and executive council of the Ministry of Public Health in the interim Mujahideen government, Deputy Minister of Public Health, First Deputy Minister of Public Health, and from 1993-1995 as Minister of Public Health.
Mr. Fatemi has also worked as temporary advisor to WHO in Geneva and the Mediterranean region, permanent advisor to WHO for the Eastern Mediterranean region, as member of the WHO Executive Board from 1992-1994, as member of the Executive Board of the Medical Services Development Organization for Afghanistan and member of the gynecology hospital for Afghan refugees. He is also a member of the Order of Good Time in Canada. Mr. Fatemi has participated in various academic conferences and has published books on medical care, correct and incorrect use of modern drugs and first aide.

Biography of Sayed Makhdoom Rahin, Minister of Information and Culture

Dr. Rahin was born in Kabul in 1325. Following the completion of his education in Afghanistan, he travelled to Tehran for the purpose of obtaining his MA and Doctorate degrees. He obtained his doctorate in Dari literature from Tehran University in 1352. He worked as a professor at Kabul University after his return to the country. Later, he served as Dirctor of the Culture and Arts Department at the Ministry of Information and Culture.
Dr. Rahin was a member of the Constitutional Drafting Commission during the Daud Khan’s presidency. He was a participant in the Loya Jirga of 1356. He immigrated to Pakistan after the Saur Revolution.
He served as Special Advisor in the Interim Government of Hazrat Mojadedi. A contemporary poet and prominent writer, Dr. Rahin has conducted research in the field Islamic Culture, Literature, Hisotry and Rule. In 1377, Dr. Rahin was accepted as a member of the Executive Committee of the Loya Jirga in Rome, and from then on participated in all the activities related to the Loya Jirga until the convening of the Bonn Conference. He also continued his work as Chairman of the Peace and Democracy Association for Afghanistan and participated in several gatherings. Dr. Rahin was appointed Minister of Information and Culture during the Interim Authority, and was elected Chairman of the Kabul Citizens’ Council in September 2003. At the request of the President (Karzai), Father of the Nation awarded him the the Service Medal for his work in the area of freedom of expression and culture.

Biography of Sediqa Balkhi, Minister of Martyrs and Disabled

Sediqa Balkhi daughter of Sayed Ismael Balkhi was born in a religious and enlightened family in 1329. She holds a BA degree in Sharia. She has also done religious studies in Iran during the time of hejra (exile). Mrs. Balkhi has worked as a teacher and administrator. She also campaigned against the occupation of Afghnistan by the Soviet Union through resolutions, interviews and seminars. She has also strived for the promotion of education for Afghan refugees and the youth as well as the provision of employment opportunities for widows and orphans.

Biography of General Abdurrahim Wardak, Minister of National Defense

Abdurrahim Wardak son of Abdul Ghani Wardak was born in Wardak province in 1323. Following his graduation from Habibya High School, he entered the Military Academy. Mr. Wardak has completed his higher education in the fields of Infantry, Methodic Education Course, Parachute Course, Commando Course, Officers’ Motorized and Mechanized Course, Radio and Electronics Course and the Army Staff College in the United States and the Naser Academy in Cairo, Egypt.
After the completion of his higher education, he served as instructor at the Military Academy and Deputy of [the] Protocol [Department] at the Ministry of Defense. During the days of jehad, he served as the Deputy Military Commander of Mahaz-e Milli Islami Afghanistan, Military Deputy of the Tri-partite Alliance (Etihad-e Sehgana), member of the Afghanistan Mujahideen Alliance, Commander of the Mahaz-e Milli Islami Afghanistan fronts. After the liberation of Afghanistan in 1371, he served as member of the Kabul City Security and Defense Council, Afghanistan’s Army Chief of Staff, Chairman of Afghanistan Officers’ Society, Chairman of the Education and Training Commission, member of the National Army Rehabilition Commission, Deputy Minister of Defense, head of the Weapons Collection Progam and Chairman of the Reform, Rehabilitation and Formation of the National Army.
He has published numerous works in Dari, Pashtu and English.

Biography of Obaidullah Ramin, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husband

Obaidullah Ramin son of Mohammad Omar was born on 7 Mizan 1331 in Baghlan province. He did his primary and secondary eduction at Khost wa Fereng High School and completed his high school studies at Baghlan Lycee. He obtained his BA degree from Kabul University. He also studied at the Agricultural Development Bank between 1356-1357.
Mr. Ramin has worked as Auditor at the Agricultural Development Bank from 1354-1357, Director of the Cooperative of Afghanistan Banks from 1360-1362, and Officer at the Development Bank from 1382-1383. He has also served as Director of the non-governmental institution of the Center for Afghanistan Businesspeople and Industrialists, and Chairman of the Executive Board and interim Director of the non-governmental institution of the Agricultural Union of Afghanistan.
